Help with weird EX1 file playback

I fear I may have just tripped over my own foot again.

I am using a Sandisk Extreme class 10 SDHC card in my EX1 via a Sonnet card adapter and have run into some problems reviewing clips that I recorded this afternoon then imported into Premier Pro CS4 by removing the card from the camera, loading it into an external card reader on my Macbook Pro then copying the files on to my hard drive using the Sony Content Browser program.

Here are the problems:
Quite a few files broke up into patches of noisy interference when I played them back and even after I tried exporting the clip from CS4, leading me to believe there was some serious problem with the recording - but when I played back the same files in the Content Browser program and/or VLC media player they all looked fine and there was no sign of the noise?

When I reloaded the SDHC card in the EX1 I immediately got a message on the LCD that "the media needs to be restored" that also leads me to believe there is some serious problem with the recording?

At first thought the problem is most likely a faulty SDHC card???

But more likely I was wrong to try and get the clips out of the camera this way rather than via a USB cable and by trying to do so may have corrupted the file structure that would also explain the reason for the error message asking me to restore the media?
