GH2 Help with videos I loaded to my computer!

Hi everyone. So I went on a trip abroad and had a problem with my laptop so I loaded my photos and videos taken with the GH2 from my sd card on his laptop.

I couldn't open the video files then, but thought it was the laptop so when I opened them in my computer I discovered they were .mov files but with very small file sizes like 6.18 kb and 7.68 kb.

Did he copy the wrong files? Why were they .mov files?

When I loaded other videos to my computer they were .mts files.

Any idea what to do? The already deleted the content and shot new stuff on the sd card :(

I can't tell you what small MOV files might have been from. I mean, obviously there's the .MOV mode, and lowest quality might have made small files, but not that small. It sounds to me like something tried to automatically convert the files during the copy process or something. But if the files are that small, and you don't have the originals somewhere, you're probably out of luck. Check to see if they're still on his computer somewhere. You could try running testdisk on your card (a dos command line program that has recovered old files off of cards in the past) but depending on how much data has been recorded on that card since then, there may be little hope, unfortunately. Sorry man.

The file structure for those mts files is slightly convoluted, and it sounds like the wrong folder was copied over. Definitely don't use the SD card anymore, until you can run a recovery program to get the correct files (some may still be there, unless you've completely filled the card with new stuff).
