I need a video camera I can purchase and send to a friend in France, that he can use to make videos of dog events for me. He knows very little about cameras, so I need something that he can use on full auto. It needs a 300 mm (or longer) equivalent, and it needs a good optical stabilization system. I would like to have the video files to process in FCP, but he will send them on a DVD, and I fear that precludes a system like my GH1 or EX1R, which wrap the files so they cannot be pulled and sent in sections. I thought about the Sony Alpha NEX-5, but apparently the longer zoom will not be available for awhile. The TM700 is also a possibility, but the wrapped files will probably be an issue (they will be larger than the 4.6 GB DVD capacity).
I make NTSC DVDs in FCP to send to him, and he has no problems viewing them - if I buy a PAL camera, will I be able to process and output the PAL files in NTSC I can view and share (DVD, Blu-ray)?
Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Bill
