Hello, Just shot a music video, with an isco 36 , so basically the HD anamorphic 24p ratio for youtube will be 1920X750 here in ntsc ..the video will be running back on Pal land on sd tv station , they gave me these spec avi - mpeg4\mbeg2
pal.system.sd
full qality
720*576 50i

,how to get the anamorphic look with these specs is what im trying to get at,thanks for any help with this

PAL, as you probably know, uses non-square pixels. As a result 720x576 is 4:3 (whereas if the pixels were square it would take 768x576 to be 4:3).

So to keep the same frame ratio on-screen in PAL, I would say you want to letterbox the height to 750 x 768/1920 = 300.

So I say 720 x 300, letterboxed from 720 x 576 non-square pixels.

thanks for the quick reply, now, is 50i gonna change the over all look ?coming from 24p, sorry , its my first time having to go from internet content ntsc to pal sd tv,thanks!

@sammysammy - framerate conversion is a big topic. A common approach would be to simply retime slightly from 24fps to 25fps and tolerate a slight pitch shift in the audio, and then convert to interlaced if necessary for delivery. Depends on the quality you need, and the software and/or the budget you have - there are freeware options with a learning curve, encoders like Procoder, or Aftereffects etc that will all do this.
