I have premire after upgrading from vegas. I love them both and work with them alot. For some reason when i go to capture on premire it says cannot detect a camera. I went to vegas same results. I tryed my others cams same result. I put in another firewire card same results. I read the manual inside out same results. I have a project i completed. I can't do anything. please help thanks guys for all ur help.

Since your capture problem is being expressed in two different NLEs and with multiple 1394 cards, its likely a problem with Windows itself.

A few questions:

Have you installed any software (other than you have listed) recently?

What version of Windows are you running?

Have you tried to capture through Windows Movie Maker?

After installing Nero6 no capture
After installing new HP printer with all goodies no capture

Have you installed anything that has to do with input/output/pictures/video after you installed Premiere?

i have windows xp sp2 i have not installed any prog yet. I also tryed movie maker and it works but premire and vagas doesint. My freind brought ulead over and it too wouldint detect. so only movie maker did. It's weird im trying to reinstall premire again and see what happned. please let me know thankx

so just capture with moviemaker and edit with premiere and vegas.
moviemaker should capture the full quality dv footage with no loss in rez.

The installation of two competing NLEs may have caused the problem. I would recommend uninstalling both NLEs (saving any projects obviously) and then reinstall (after a clean boot) only the NLE that you intend to work with.

sorry now it says can't "activate recorder" "try resetting your camera" is there a way to fix this because reseting doesint work.

I still suggest uninstalling both, do a clean boot and then just reinstall one. Test it out and report back your findings.
