help with overexposed ears from backlight

Hey guys I need some specific help on how to replace the color of the overexposed ear lobes on this clip. And if possible how to change the color of the ears without effecting the rest. here is a still frame.

I am no editor but have tried
color replace
Croma key it out and replace the background with a skin color.
luma keys.

I love detailed description if you could but any help be of service. thanks guys.

If you have Color a secondary mask/key would do the trick.
