Quite a vague question.
For starters - generally performances are lit in a very surreal way, that is to say - don't use natural light. Then again - what look are you trying to achieve - I personally am a believer that one doesn't constantly need to light every shot just to light it, rather it should go with the feel of the video.
Perhaps you could narrow your question down a bit to maybe get some more specifics from various members of the board

What you really need to do is research.
You need to look at videos and films that appeal to you and what you are going for.
Analyize them shot by shot. Then if you can't figure out how they did something... that would be a good time to post a question.
There are 'probly hundreds if not thousands of ways to do what you are asking with such vague language.
Narrow it down and I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

I love to shoot with a ring lighrt like the Kino flo Kamino light. It gives you that ring in the eye look. but that is just the style I like to use.
