help with Lpowell 35mbps mjpeg skipping...

I changed my settings to Lpowell's wonderfull 40mbps avchd & 35mbps mjpeg.

The problem is that the AVCHD FHD records perfectly... but if I shoot the exact same scene with mjpeg HD then its choppy as hell.

the sad thing is that i'm using a crappy PNY 16GB class 4 card

BUT

why would the AVCHD version record without problems where as the mjpeg scene is choppy?

Did you read bitrate from you raw footage? Then you will see why is your MJPEG footage choppy.
Mjpeg codec records in constant high bitrate all the time while AVCHD brings high birate only when is complicated scene.
So solution is to buy higher class card.

Exactly! ... just buy new SanDisk Extreme Class 10 or something similar ..
