Help with loading scene files onto 150

Hi,

I am a new hmc150 owner and have found this forum invaluable as I make my switch from FX1s to hmc150s. Right now I am stumped.

I have downloaded scene files from the link below.

http://dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=149719&page=4

I just can't figure out how to save them on the camera. I have tried to follow the directions here
http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/scene_files.asp?model=HPX170
but haven't had any luck. The four scene.txt files are on the sd card I'm using in the correct folder. I just can't figure out what the next step is. Read, write, save, load, etc....

Could someone give me easy, step-by-step, directions on how to save them to the 150?

Thanks,

Chris

I'm pretty sure I have the folder structure in place. Here's what I have:

private/meigroup/pavcn/sbg/p2sd/scene1.txt, scene2.txt, scene3.txt, scene4.txt

What I need to know is this. When I put this card in the hmc150, what do I do next? Save? Load?, etc...

Thanks,

Chris

Alright. I mistakenly thought the scene files were stored somewhere in the camera's memory, that I could transfer them from a card and then store them in the camera. Being new to the 150, I thought it would store them in the camera when I switched cards.

When I built the file structure into the card I was using, then it worked. I guess you have to format all of your cards you use and then set up the scene file structure on each card.

I have my first wedding shoot coming up this weekend. I will have 8 cards on hand. The scene files will need to be stored on each card.

Then you can "push menu/select scenefile/ then choose "read"

Chris, I just use a 128mb SD card that has my scenefiles and structure on it. When I want to load a file I just insert that card and change them accordingly.

There's one small problem with putting the scenefiles on all of your cards as you have done, and that is you can't format the card otherwise you'll lose the scenefiles as well. The only other way to remove previous footage is to go into the playback menu and use "delete all clips" function.

I just find it easier to have one dedicated SD card for the scenefiles.

Shaun,

I'm still a little confused. How often do I need to format a card? Is there a reason why I can't just "delete all clips" when I am done.

Maybe I am still missing something. Right now my card has 24 scene files stored on it. Is there any way to store more than 6 scene files using your method? I do realize that I will never use all the scene files. I am just trying to figure this out.

Can you walk me through how to store one set (6) of scene files using your method? I'm still unclear how to store them in the camera.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris i'm sure you can't actually store them on your camera,,,one of the 4 groups of 6 scene files can only be on the camera at any one time, if you wanna different scenefile thats not in the 6 you've loaded, you need to reload them from a card.

I format my cards with every new shoot cause its easier than delete all clips method and faster too I believe, thats why I got a dedicated scenfile card.

The only scenefiles that stay permanently on the camera are the original factory scenefiles,,, when you load the Barry Green scenefiles, these just sit in the background and if you ever want to recall them, you need to do a restore.

So here's what I do again,,,, I have my 24 scenefiles from the CD copied to a 128mb card with files structure intact as per Barry's CD.

There are only 6 positions on the dial so 6 files is all you can access at any one time.
Put in the card,,, go into menu, select "scenefile" the select "read". The 4 groups of 6 files come up,,,, scroll until you want a particular group, thats it. I f want a scenefile thats not in that group, you gotta do it over again.

Chris, according to Barry Green's HMC150 book, he recommends that you can just "delete all clips" as reformatting the card will erase your scene file settings. It's what I do, and cards have not given me problem afterwords. A dedicated scene file SDHC card would be beneficial too I guess.
