Help with Capture

Hey all-thaks for having me,

recently purchased Vegas bundle ($590)-when i connect my DVX100a to my robust laptop, no recognition takes place...

i had been using Windows movie maker to capture dv from a fun little Samsung, but now that is recognized either, even by windows movie maker...


Question-1) I know nothing about capture cards/devices-can someone give me some direction on that?

2) could I have fried my 1394 4 pin firewire port somehow, when plugging in or removing the little Samsung DV camera?

Hello reahlert,

Have you been able to connect any other 1394 devices into your laptop? If so do they work?

You may have fried the 1394 port in your DVX. We've seen that on a regular basis.

Hi, I have a new dvx100b and soon I will be capturing on my pc, is there special precautions to take to avoid 'frying'?
