FS7: Help with Audio channels!!

Need some help with FS7 audio channels.

How does channel 3 work on the FS7 exactly? I have it set as on in the menu as Internal Mic, auto, but when I record a clip to test, no sound is heard on playback. I try to change the monitor display to monitor channels other than 1 and 2, but regardless of what I set the monitor displays to in the menu they are forever showing Channels 1 and 2. So I can't monitor channel 3, it doesn't seem to be there on playback, yet when I view the footage on a PC Channel 3 is present.

Also any way to not import 8 channels of audio (why is it 8?) into Premiere when most of them are empty?

Help!

To use 3 and maybe 4 you need the 'special' sony lavs that go into the camera hotshoe.

I dont use premier but to hide the unused tracks you should be able to do something like 'clip properties->audio->tracks select 2'

You need to go into the AUDIO INPUT menu and select ch 3+4 Internal Mic. Then select Level Control Auto. Then to monitor you need to go to Audio Output MENU and select Ch3/Ch4. Or you can select MIX ALL (I don't recommend that since the internal camera mic is pretty crummy as it picks up camera noise. Fine for just basic reference/ ambient but not to depend on as real audio)...or you can also select Ch 1, 2, 3 or 4 to monitor. Only do that to verify it's on. Ch 3/4 will allows be on but unless you go through these steps, you can't hear those channels while shooting.
Premier, FCP and the like, have options to deselect any or all of your audio channels. QT via inspector, has the same options.
