A friend of mine hit me with the responsibility of fixing his DVX...I have a reputation for that. Although, it seems he's encountering an extremely rare and EPIC FAIL. I've been searching the internet for two hours now, trying different combinations of words. So I finally came to my Senses and decided to plead for your help.
First off, let me say, this is the first DVX I've ever seen without a "UL Listed" stamp.
The camera is an AG-DVX100B with 359 hours on the heads. The problem we're experiencing is that the take-up Spools are always spinning at approximately FFW/REW speed. Every other function of the camera seems to be fine and functioning at the correct seed. When I turn the camera on, it does the same little back and forth to get the head ready (We all know that sound) But As for any functioning DVX, the reels function at Rec/Play speed, whereas this camera does the same process in the FFW speed. When in Camera Mode, and I press record, it records at FFW speed, the time code still runs in Reel Time though. When switching to play mode, it does so at FFW speed and when pressing Play on a tape, it runs at FFW Speed.
The camera seems to think it's fine. I've unhinged the tape door and I've been looking at it for a while now. The Mechanics are somewhat different than my dvx100bp.
Any Ideas?
Ernie
