Help! What is causing these artifacts on my Canon 5d mark ii?

Keep getting footage lately that has these digital blocky artifacts, glitches, or whatever you want to call them. Couldn't find anyone else with this problem online. Anyone else getting them?

I'm thinking it's either a file transfer issue or AJ 5.9. The rest of the file is fine except for these artifacts 1- 3 times in almost every file I shoot. The artifacts look different when I play the file in quicktime (and it happens at around the same spot only less dramatic and for fewer frames. In total, they mess up about 6-8 frames in premiere each time). Here's what they look like when playing them in quicktime:

Any thoughts? Anyone else ever get these?

It's not the player. It's in the footage. I've tried windows media player and vlc. Looks the same as when played with the quicktime player.

I've never used Magic lantern, I run the OEM firmware and never experienced anything like that. So indeed that could be your issue. Shoot some footage without magic lantern and see if it happens.

i had a similar thing happen at a recent wedding just for 1 second. It reminded me of the glitches when filming HDV to tape in the old days. I can't remember if I was using ML or not, but it was installed on the card so I'd suspect I was running it at the time.

I only get that weird look if my hard drives are acting all slow and wonky [I need a defrag or move the footage to a different partition] and sometimes get this weird look if I have my Premiere Pro display on 1/4 or 1/2 view playback quality. Try right clicking the panel and changing it to full quality.
