OK, so i have a dvx100a. its been relaxing in my slightly cool air-conditioned bedroom unused for a couple months...(i know, its neglected) So the other night a couple friends decided it would be fun to mess around and make a movie. I took it out and everything looked fine, i messed with some lights and found a nice place to start recording. I had used about 10 minutes of the tape so far so i wanted to make sure i wasnt taping over anything so i flipped it into VCR mode and pressed play. this is the weird part. All i got was that old blue screen. Nothing. I rewound it and played from the begining...nothing. The TC* was frozen and didnt move. So i though..hmmm maybe there isnt anything on this tape after all...I recorded about 30 seconds of nonsense and played it back...nothing. Blue screen. TC* frozen at the .00.00.30 where it left off. Anyone else have this problem?? I figure its about time to buy a dv cleaning tape anyways. So ill try that tonight. But i figured people usually got the "red tape" symptom with a dirty head issue. It sees the tape and lets me record on it, and during playback the motors are moving and it all feels normal. Just no picture. Thanks in advance for your advise!
