Help! Weird Final Cut Master Templates error!

I've been having an issue with the master templates in Final Cut and I was wondering if someone here might know what's going on.

A client wants me to create an intro using the Glass Panes master template however every clip I drop into the drop zones comes up with a checkerboard pattern overlayed on top of it. The pattern is even there when there aren't any clips in the drop zones. I cannot figure out how to get rid of it and it shows up on exports. Some of the other master templates work perfectly. Others layer the pattern on overtop.

OSX and FCP are totally up to date.

What sequence settings with what footage from what cam?

Which Mac with how much RAM? What are you using as a dedicated media drive?

And you are running 10.6.2 and FCP 7.0.1?

Thanks, I'm running a Mac Pro with 6 gigs of ram and all media is on an internal Seagate drive (separate from OS).

The sequence is set to "HD (960x720) (16:9)" and the footage was captured using the ProRes codec from DV tape. I don't know which model of camera was used.

Yes, all software is up to date (10.6.2 and 7.0.1)

Do you have a screen grab of the "drop zones with a checkerboard pattern overlayed on top of it."

Not certain what you are seeing.

Here's the screen grab. This is what it actually looks like when I export.

Have you possibly changed the composite mode of the clips, and do you have your canvas set to black or white, or possibly checkerboard?

I haven't actually changed any of the composite modes and whenever I right-click them they're set to "Normal", so I assume that's how they're going in to the template, and the canvas is set to black.

I'd suggest trashing the FCP preferences files, and try this again with new footage.

I just tried to duplicate your problem and could not.

Yep, did both those. No luck.

This problem is really killing me. I'd just reinstall FCP but I don't have any discs handy.

Get this, reinstalled FCP and the problem is STILL there. I think there must be a line of code in FCP that goes something like: "If Jonmarck is working on a project then do everything possible to ruin it"

I know master templates are linked to Motion, which I haven't installed since I have After Effects. Could that have something to do with it?
