HELP!!!! Trying to capture...

Hello-

I just got my DVX and was breaking it out last night to check out what the "factory settings" can do. I filmed about 15 minutes of footage. First in Scene 1, then I switched it to Scene 5, then Scene 6, while the camera was running. I wanted to record the difference. The problem is, when I used my SONY TRV-19 to capture the footage (freshly cleaned heads), Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 kept interrupting the capture after about 10 seconds. THEN, I used the DVX to capture (I know, I know, sacrilegious...but hey, I'm troubleshooting here), and it was fine. Why can't my little guy capture the footage? Is it the frame rate? Is it the different type of heads? Is it a Premiere Settings issue? Please advise. I do NOT want to use my brand spanking new beautiful DVX as a deck.

That's like buying a new BMW and loading it up with boxes and using it to move.

I don't see why it would be the frame rate, any cam should work as a deck, I'd say it would have to do with your camera's compatability with pro1.5, I don't have 1.5, so I can't really trouble shoot the problem, maybe you should try posting this in the premiere pro section of the board.

First- Avoid changing settings whiel the camera is running. This can cause the tiem code to get screwing and put the cadence off. Just stop the camera and change modes.

Second- Some cameras don't provide the timecode from the tape. This includes some of the low end Panasonic cameras. Most of the Sony's seem to work but this is possible.
Try capturing from a differen section of the tape and check your editor settings.

thanks guys. i got it to work someway somehow. but you gave me something to consider. not switch the modes while running. i think that was my problem.

Try turning Scene Detect off in the capture screen. Premiere often creates dropped frames if this is on - worked for me.
