HELP:Trouble with DVX Auto Iris/Exposure

Is it normal when the dvx100 adjusts its iris when making tight shots?

I already made sure to turn off the auto exposure and the auto iris but it still automatically compensates (reduces the light in take) when I zoom in fully to a subject.

It then readjusts the light intake to normal when I zoom back to wide angle making the lighting inconsistent. This happens both in the 60i and progressive mode.

Is there anymore function im still missing out or is there a problem with the camera?:lipsrseal

Thanks for the help!

That is just the nature of lenses. They need more light at full telephoto then wide so by keeping your iris at the same f-stop while you zoom in makes the loss of light very apparent. This is not a malfunction.

I didn't notice that in slr camera lenses...is that a whole lot different than video? anyhow, thanks for the reply! this clarifies the low light in telephoto.Ü
