so, that pretty much explains it. I already tried a screw extractor with no success, unfortunately. If anybody knows where I can get a replacement tripod mount hole preferably in the San Francisco Bay Area or anywhere else, I would appreciate the input.

Also, if there's any other possible way to remove the broken half of the screw, so I may salvage my current mount, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks everybody!

If you've still got the space, try a bigger easy out/extractor bit. Wider/bigger diameter will give you more leverage. You can also try putting a slit into it with a dremmel cutting wheel and then getting a big flathead screwdriver in there.

If you just can't get it, check out the aftermarket baseplates available from spec-comm.com

Juice Design's baseplate is a really nice addition on the camera, the HVX200A baseplate can be found here.

The tripod 'frame' replacement part is VMP8615 and you can find it here. We have one in stock. If your camera has the little silver screws holding it in place, we recommend replacing them with four longer screws. They are $.84 each, you can request them to be added on the comments if you place an order on the webstore, or place an order over the phone.
