HELP: Time Code Does Not Make Sense

Formatting cards in camera to leave tomorrow on vacation and having panic attack about Counter Display in LCD. I am continuing to read PDF and Barry's book but getting nervous I won't find answer so turning to forum for help. I am sure it is some silly newby thing, but would appreciate answers.

Camera currently set at default 1080 60i and 16 GB card just formatted shows 1 hour 29 min remaining in LCD display which looks right. Also shot around 10 seconds on card to be sure it was functional and viewed clip shot. However,I am just paying attention to Counter display and none of the Counter displays makes sense to me: pushing Counter Button to cycle through display as described on p 87 of PDF: nothing shows for COUNTER; CLIP shows 0:26:53 ; TC shows 00:26:53:18 ; UB shows 00 00 00 00. I understand TC shows Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames but I would expect it (from my old tape based days) to show something like 00:00:10:15 since my trial shot was something like 10 seconds long (could be off a bit on that). I certainly have not shot 26 minutes, 53 seconds on this card.

How can I get TC to show time I have actually shot?

Also, I assume I should leave TimeCode set to DF (drop frame) for later work on my NLE?

Over last few days I have done some shooting with camera and everything seems to be working fine, but this Time Code thing is bugging me.

Thank you.

You need to reset them. Time code is in the menu and clip reset is on the camera itself. They dont reset when you put in a new card.

Just noticed; the Time Code Display shows the same 00:26:53:18 whether I have the newly formatted 16 GB card installed or put my original 8 GB card in which I did test shooting on over last few days and which likely could have 26 minutes and 53 seconds of time shot. These numbers are somewhat approximate, but it looks to me like there is some "reset" function I need to perform when I put a new card in camera--looks like time shot on old card is retained in memory until reset? I did push the Reset button (rashly since I have not yet read what it does) but it did not seem to reset Counter.

Fantastic quick response "abeas" and I must have been sending my second note right when you were responding. I did not check clip time when I pushed the "reset" button on camera so it probably did go to zero.

Sorry, but I still need help with the TC reset---can't find TC Reset in the menu. What I see is TC Preset and if I select "yes" it shows me the 00:26:53:18 so do I need to manually enter 00:00:00:00 to "reset" the TC counter?

The other menu item I saw was "Clip Counter Reset" which is default set to "no" --if I select "yes" I get another choice "User Clip Count Reset?" yes or no--is this just another way to reset clip counter to 0 in addition to using the reset button? When I pushed the "reset" button on camera it did reset clip counter to zero.
