is this normal an 8 or 9 beep sound everytime when i switch the camera on. (this is in tape mode)

Just tested mine, it didn't do it, not in P2 mode, not in Tape mode, no beeps.

But I do know that if the battery is about dead when I try to switch the HVX on, the lights flash in sequence on the back, down by the P2/Tape switch, beeps, then shuts back down.

Don't think it's normal, no. I've never had that happen. Are the beeps in any particular sequence (think morse code)? Perhaps the HVX has some kind of beep-error-codes like PC BIOS' that tell you what's wrong with it.

the manual says that an audible warning beep will sound when a tape has not been inserted when the camera is turned on so before I switch the camera on, I inserted a tape then powered it and no more beep, I guess it solved my problem but still nervous about that too many beeps why not just 2 or 3 beep or no beep.
 
"Audible warning will beep" is not saying "it will beep once when...".

If companies gave a crap about the quality of user manuals, I'd have a ton of work lined up, having done user manuals before. But, they don't care, I don't have that sort of work lined up, go figure...
