Help! Stuck step ring on camera

I have a step down ring on my camera which seems to be jammed. Nobody, no matter how good their fingers are at gripping things, can manage to unscrew this. This has never happened to me before and I need to film tomorrow with the ring out!

Any ideas for getting this out?!

Wrap a rubber band around the ring - that should give you the extra grip you need to remove it.

i have a ping pong paddle i use for this. lay it flat against the ring and twist.

If you grip it right to not damage the threads, a pair of pliers always works. Just don't scratch your lens.

I use a rubbermat and put in on a table. Then I put the camera lens down on it and turn. Works always. Almost the same as Zak's PingPong Paddle trick.

The rubber mat idea was super easy, thanks for that. Please try this before breaking out the pliers.

yet sometimes, my rings will be stuck, and i let-up on the pressure and try to unscrew it with the lightest amount of pressure possible, and whamo...magically, it comes loose. with the knurled edges of most rings/filters, it's a tricky mess. especially with a FaderND or a rotating polarizer, where your grip is minimal...the lightest touch always works for me.
