Help starting with the HVX200AP

So now that I have solved most of my questions regarding PAL/NTSC and the ND filter being "stuck" I'm off to shoot an event this weekend and I need reassurance as I'm still not sure to use the HVX and favor my canon 6D instead.

First I want to know if this thread and warnings are still relevant : http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?118672-Proper-P2-Offloading-Procedure-For-A-Mac

I'm using Final Cut Pro X and I just tried uploading clips using the FCP internal import mechanics directly from the Cam (I don't have the card reader) and it worked just fine. But reading this thread made me nervous about using the HVX200 at all ! I just can't take any chance this weekend.

Also, I obviously want to shoot in 1080 but I don't know if I should do 1080i/60i , 30P, 24P or 24AP. I would like to minimize the grain and eventually slow down some clips I'm pretty sure that it's 60i I want, but maybe I should stick to 720p as i heard the HVX200 is not a native 1080 cam. I'm a bit lost really... :)

Also, if I shoot in 1080i/60i, what is the codec used and what preset should I use on my FCP project ? Will there be problems integrating clips shot with modern iphones and Go Pros ?

Thanks for all your help !

I loved the HVX to death, shot reliably hours and hours of footage and earned a lot of money with it.
That said, I never want to shoot with it again.
Don't know what the 6D offers, but I shot a lot of stuff on the t2i/7D/5DII and even with all the DSLR quirks,
I would prefer shooting with any one over the HVX.
If you will have a mix of iPhone and GoPro footage anyways, is there a special reason to use the HVX at all?

No special reason other than that image is so much nicer than any DSLR and also that I wanted to make use of it and see if it could still be useful. The main problem I have with it is that I can't seem to shoot in any low light environnement. It's just not sensitive enough.

Have you tried any of the new DSLR/mirrorless cameras on the market?

(The HVX200's image is extremely dated compared to them...but maybe you're going for a certain older nostalgic look.)

I've come around after doing some tests yesterday and the ND filter is definitely stuck on the HVX so I'll be shooting everything with my wife's 6D which is not ideal but will have to do... I think in the end I will buy a proper camera but I really wanted to try out the HVX as I got it for free and I really love the results with it. Anyway ! Thanks for your help !
