I have only just got this camera and wonder what the pulsating effect is on this footage shot in HQ at 25p. Shutter at 1/50.

Please tell me it isn't a serious problem??

Regards.

I have no idea what your talking about, I see a little breathing from the lens changing focal length, but nothing else. It is early though, and I have had only a half cup of joe, my brain is still not awake completely:)

Its those bands that are moving down the screen I'm refering to.

I played it full screen and don't see any bands.

Maybe Vimeo is playing at one rate and you are watching in another (50hz v 60hz issues)

There is a slight rolling shutter warping/jello effect, maybe that's what you're referring to ?

I see it very well. Make sure flicker reduce setting is off. Older cameras had this automatically switched to on, Sony then released a firmware update that turned it off because people were having this problem.

Yes I have switched that off. Didn't think flicker would be an issue outdoors though? I've also turned the shutter off as well. So how that goes.

Shutter shouldn't be an issue and you can set it to what you want. Yeah the sun had some weird effect on this feature. Go through the menus and anything you don't know about go and refer to the the manual and adjust or turn off. Use manual settings on the lens: switch and lens collar both when you test again to eliminate as many possibilities.

Was it really hot where you were shooting? Did you just move the camera from air conditioned indoors to outside in hot temps? Also, maybe it's a refresh rate issue with a 60hz monitor vs. 50hz? Does this show up if you hook your camera to a TV and watch the footage? I wish I could help you here...

I've noticed it only does it in both 25p and 24p. If that helps.

Adam, no its winter here and the temperature was around 18C.

I missed it the first time, but I can see it now

It's a faint horizontal orange/red band that scrolls vertically. If you pay attention to the top left corner against the green/dark background near the end of the clip, it's more visible.

Doesn't look "normal" to me

Can you reproduce it with other shots ?

Just reshot a similar shot outside in the same spot and its not there now. Could have been something to do with the flicker setting.
