Help SIMILO get finished

Ha, we have this joke about premiering the short in 2065, which is the year where the film takes place. Then, it will no longer be a sci-fi short, but a contemporary social drama. XDDD

All jokes aside... what's the deal? How is it going...and what is the delay all about?
I REALLY want to see this film done.

there really isn't a way for me to ask this without looking like a complete jerk, but i'll go ahead anyway...

with projects funded on kickstarter, is there a time limit that a project must be completed within before people are entitled to a refund? i'm not asking for a refund or implying others should get a refund; i'm merely inquiring as to whether or not there is a deadline.

-the intial post on kickstarter stated: "We are really close to finishing the film." that was two and half years ago.
-in march of this year, we were told the film would be completely finished and ready to be shown on may 15th.
-in june we were told that the vfx shots were slowly happening and you didn't have a sound editor, but the film would be finished in a matter of weeks.
-in august we were told that you're still working on vfx shots and sound editing should begin soon.

i realize this is an extremely time consuming endeavor, but at the same time people have invested their money in a project that has taken substantially longer than anticipated. does kickstarter notify you if the project hasn't been completed within a certain amount of time?

p.s. the screenshots i've seen look awesome and i still really want to see this film.

Yep, aren't you getting all the updates?

You guys have helped funding the short and we really appreciate your effort. Seriously, amazing guys. I've put almost a hundred grand on this thing, and like 5 years of work, so trust me, we ARE finishing it. XD

I have to agree with ugafan. Frankly, when I saw this thread bumped, noticed the original date, and saw that you still had not delivered, well, why would anyone fund a movie through Kickstarter for you in the future if it takes 5-6 years before they have the movie in their hands/hard drive? I understand that things happen, but seriously, you got $14,000 over 2 and a half years ago and you have nothing to show for it as of yet.

That strikes me as being very unprofessional.

Well it's very simple. You're just trolling right now.

Movies take a lot of time to make. Yes, and when they have VFXs, they have big teams working on them. And still they take time to finish. We don't have a big team doing the VFXs, nor the budget of a Hollywood film. So progress is slow.
I don't remember giving any deadlines on the kickstarter page. Because I knew this would be a long term project. There is no incredibe delay. Since there was never a premiere scheduled. The only date I posted was a few months ago when a VFX supervisor promised he would be done by early June. He wasn't able to finish it by then and so here I am sitting in front of 3 computers, rendering shots myself.
It's not like I got the money and run away. We've been constantly working on the film all this time, and Mike has been publishing updates as progress was made.

If you are a backer and want your money back, feel free to email me or Mike for your money back. I'll have no problem with that. On the meantime I'll be here working on the film. Thanks.

And you weren't required to on Kickstarter at the time, but they ended up having to change that, so will you be sticking with the deadline next time, or just blowing it off no matter what you put?

Look, I sympathise, it can be a slow process, but here's what ugafan posted:

And here we are, 2 1/2 years later and still no end in sight. Movies are made on a deadline all the time...yes they have money, but it's not unlimited by any stretch. There have even been movies made, with low-to-medium budgets, that had a release date booked before the script was ever written. Yet they still made it. It's all about what's important.

Oh, and calling me a troll simply because I happened to express my opinion is a really childish way of trying to invalidate my point without offering any sort of substantive rebuttal. It's quite transparent, really.

I don't have any money invested in this...thankfully. And if no one is interested in a refund, then, hey, great. But both your attitude, and your inability to effectively produce your short film means that I will never support any of your Kickstarter projects in the future. And if I wasn't alone, that wouldn't surprise me.

But thanks for basically affirming my initial impression just from this bumped thread.
