Hi guys!

I need your help..

I saw this awesome video shot on the d90:
http://vimeo.com/4256260
(this thread: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=168961)

It literally really blew me away:love4:

Now.. I don't "want" to sell my whole DVX-SGpro combo, so I was thinking:

The reason I have the SGpro is for the DOF..
so what if I sell only the SGpro and my lenses, I'll probably get around 1500$ USD for it..
And then buy the D90...

Then I'll get awesome HD quality and and incredible DOF... + a nice SLR camera which I also want!

And then later on I'll get a Zoom h4 recorder.. it's around 370$ USD here in Norway, so it's not that much..

But.. What I need from you are opinions.. is this a smart thing to do?

What are you planning on shooting?

Without knowing that, we can't help...

You really just have to weigh the cons of the video mode on the D90. Personally, I'm waiting for the next generation. Panny's G1 may be what you're after...

Well, it doesn't really matter as long as I have the DVX as well.. or would you say that it does..?

But mostly... film..

The G1.. hmm.. I'll look into that:)
Thank you!

tommetass - I can't help but think this myself as well. I've considered selling my DVX+LetusFE as well as my D60 to have some cash and potentially get the D90. I eventually want the Scarlet (fixed or 2/3 cinema), but who knows when I will actually be able to get that. I find myself shooting with other people's equipment more and more often as well as working on larger projects and not using my own equipment for whatever reason. I just never want to be without a camera, I just really wonder if the D90 would cut it after having all the reliability and ability of the DVX. I know SD is not dead with the DVX, but the lure of HD sure is tough to ignore

I would vote for the DVX and sgpro!
it's just me but, I don't like the look of the D90 and I always perfer the dvx.
even in sharpness I some times think the dvx has a better look to it.
I also love the color you get from the dvx so I would stick with the DVX if I were you.

well why don't you try to get a hold of the D90 first and try it out.
you don't want to be saying " I don't think this camera is for me" after you sold your dvx+sgpro and have the D90 left....

true...if u can get a loaner and check it out that would be good ...actually he;s keeping the DVX. Just selling the SG...but still, would be good to check it out.

Yes, sorry to confuse this thread with my own thoughts. Tommetass was saying he'd keep the DVX, sell the SGpro, and buy the D90.
Tommetass, not trying to jack your thread haha, just a bit confused and wondering as it seems you are too

Haha, no don't worry about it:Drogar-Happy(DBG):

This seems to be an issue that more people actually have thought of.

The loaning/renting idea might actually be what I need..
I'll check it up.. though I don't know of any renting stores or whatever her where I live... :embarasse

ok I missed it a little.

well if that's the case, then keep your lenses if you might sell the sgpro.
you can use the lenses w/ the d90.

also if you can't rent the d90 just go to the store and check it out.
having it in hand and messing with the menus/camera should get you the feel of it.
like when I first saw the d90 I thought it was a lot bigger then I thought, plus the movie mode has a slight delay on it's lcd viewfinder so I found that as a disapointing factor.

D90 is gggreat

The Nikon d90 is just plain awesome. I got a great price on mine for only $899. You can also go through bing and get 5% off from cameta.com
