Help regarding DVX100A

Hey, I'm new to the DVX100A, where as before this I shot with a Canon GL1. I recently bought the DVX off ebay and everything seems fine. The problem is occasionally when I turn the camera on, It wont turn on. It makes the noise like it will, but shuts down within the next second. After countless tries of turning it back on, sometimes the LCD will show all off the options as if I were filming, but everything else is shades of gray. Now I'm not sure if this is a common problem that some of you may be aware of, or the person I bought this from had something to do with it. I'd very much appreciate any responses, Thank you.
 
yes, but I don't think it's a malfunction with the battery because sometimes it will work with the same battery, this doesnt happen all the time.
 
yours sounds like mine... sounds the same thing. Ive gotten use to it... and Ill tell you what I do. Next time it stalls when you turn it on, switch it back off and just unclick the battery... no need to remove the battery, just a quick disconnect and reconnect then throw the power switch again. I can't explain whats happening electronically, its just seems to work for me... good luck!
 
great!! I hope it continues to work for you... I get nervous throwing the switch on/off all the time, so I tried the disconnect the battery thing... and it worked?? It consistently works out for me as Ive been experiencing it for more than a year now. Something stalls out, occassionally, and the "power up" is disrupted... but I hate playing with the switch, as it doesnt help and is just more wear and tear
