Help! Random Horizontal Purple Lines Appearing

Hey guys, so I got a DVX100A and when it was shipped to me, UPS dropped it pretty hard and I got some weird purple lines on it. Anyways, I took it to the Panasonic service center and they repaired it for $1000, I had to get a new lens.

Anyways....randomly....the purple lines appeared again. Could it be something else? Has anyone had this problem before? Or did some wiring or whatever come lose after Panasonic tried to fix it?

It's so frustrating, I'm a poor college student I don't have ****ing money to spend on getting this repaired over and over again (not to mention that the Panasonic service center is 2 hours away from me and I spent forever saving up for this camera).

BLeh. Anyways here's some footage to help you see what I am talking about:

An example is at "00:30-00:36"...basically the darker the environment and the more the camera moves, the worse the purple lines get.

Thanks guys,
Karen.

I think you're in the wrong forum, this one is for the HVX200.

That being said, I do see compression artifacts in the darker areas, splotchy colors. But I didn't see any lines.

Are you seeing the artifacts in the original footage? Or in the compressed-for-web version?

Compression averages out colors to make a smaller file size, and I think this is particularly in darker areas where it doesn't matter or show that much.

oh shoot you are right i mustve clicked the wrong link. It's hard to notice there but whenever the lens jiggles there are random purple lines intermittently flashing on the screen.

(previously accidentally posted on the HVX thread...sorry)

It's hard to see because of the compression and for that I appologize. On the 00:22 frame you can see the purple on the young man's sweater. Also at 1:14-1:16 before the iris adjusts and it is dark, you can see the purple too. On "02:57" it shows up REALLY bad you can see it.

Thanks guys,
Karen.

Any help would be great. I've heard displaced lens, dirty heads. Panasonic was supposed to have replaced the lens and run diagnostic checks on it. I don't know what the deal is.

I think it might be something more serious than the head...like the lens because I did clean the heads and the problem is still there. Also it shows up on the actual LCD and not just on the tape.

I had the same problem with my DVX- one of the chips on the CCD block (blue, I believe) ended up being loose/ damaged. The entire CCD component needed to be replaced completely, it has nothing to do with the lens.

When I got it repaired it was covered completely by the waranty, so I would definitely question the service center that you took it to.

Also, the lines appear due to the jossling of the camera and they simply show up darker with the black background.

It's not a head issue. It looks more like a lens or the Camera PCB. Both of those are somewhat expensive. If it was a head clogging/failing, you would have five even bars. This is horizontal purple blobs flaking in and out.

Thanks! I will definately bring that up when I take it back to them tomorrow. Yeah they replaced the lens but not the CCD...they said it was fine...I guess not.

I hate UPS

I hate UPS

My claim has been processing for over 2 months now....I keep hassling them about it but they can't "disclose information" to me because I am a third party. It's between the UPS store and them..i have to wait now.

I hate them a lot
