Hi. Just got the 100b a couple weeks ago and have been playing around with it, it was my first expensive camera and i still need to learn more but am learning a lot. I recently used it for my first big event, my brothers wedding, and was pleased with it while shooting, the footage looked great, i was able to make the needed adjustments for the lighting, glare, etc. However,
when i uploaded the video to my computer via firewire, I was dissapointed by the lack of sharpness. I have shot some other footage that looked better, but nothing seems to come close to the sample footage on the board. I have spent hours reading this forum and trying settings, but the screenshots i have seen on here look razor sharp, while mine all look like it was shot on a $1000 camera. I will link a screenshot.
How can i get this? I know everyone says you have to figure it out, do good postproduction. I have messed with my scene file seetings alot. I would think even shooting on default settings should/would produce great video that could only be further optimized. What to do????I need help..

Hi,

I would rest the camera to the factory default and shoot there, learning how to focus and compose. Then analyze those pictures. I am not saying the composition of this shot is bad, but it is out of focus. Work with the standard settings till you get a feel for the camera and then start to play with the settings.

Good Luck,

Jan

I dont know how your lighting was, but if you have your iris opened quite a bit and gain turned up, your image will become grainy. Also, you should watch your footage back on a tv or some kind of ntsc monitor and make sure it isnt just your computer monitor.

Agree with Jan, looks like your auto focus was missing the mark there. Try getting used to manual, or get an understanding of how the focus assist on the DVX works to ensure you now what to look out for. Jan maybe you can provide that info? I can't remember for the life of me.

Also in your image you have upressed the cap from a 480 image to almost a 720 image which does pronounce the softness even more.
