i accidently stripped my tripod mounting hole on my dvx. is that something that can be easily fixed or will i probably have to leave it in the shop for a while and if so what might it cost me?
Stripped threads can be repaired. The process generally involves drilling out to a larger size, threading the larger hole with a special tap, then screwing a special fitting into that tapped hole. See your local auto store. There are several vendors, helicoil is one of the oldest.
You could check with Panny support to see if you can buy a replacement baseplate.
I also seem to remember that there was a user offering cnc machined replacement baseplates here a couple of years ago.
I'm also pretty sure dvxuser spec-comm offered this repair in the past . . .
this is pretty much the easiest repair job for the dvx (if it's the 100b version), find your closest panasonic service centre and they should be able to to get you a replacement mount, then its a simple matter of you unscrewing the 4 screws which hold the thing in place and replacing the broken one with the new one.
i have the 100a and i removed the 4 screws to remove the base plate replace the stripped mount but i don`t see how to get inside to replace the part. would i be better in ordering an after market base plate?
what is broken on mine is the mount. the threads is stripped and i need to replace it. i already have the replacement part but i don`t see how to take out the old one and replace it with the new one vwithout totally opening up my dvx.
