Hi,

I need help .. Forgive my ignorance on this technical topic

I want to connect my DVX100b to my Powerbook (FCP)
My Power book has both firewire 400 and Firewire 800 ports available.

does the DVX100a or B support the 800 or 400 fire port?

As far as PIns go

can anyone tell me what cable I need to get?

Most PC's have S200 ports. Video gear uses S100. Higher speed I/O devices accept the lower speeds. In the same chain, the speed is limited by the lowest speed device (S100 in your case). Most portables (Powerbook) have 4 pin connectors (desktops 6), and so have camcoders. So you need a 4/4 connection cable .
 
Must be a powerfull machine, better than most PC's. If the 6 pin is powered the machine must have a lot of battery power..and weight. Unfortunately it will only run at S100 with the DVX, just like the poor man's machines will do.
