Help please, Letus Flip vs M2

Hey,

I'm new to the forum so forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong place. I need some advice, I'm looking to buy either a Red Rock M2 or the Letus 35 Flip. I've read all the post and it seems there is even split between good and bad on both units.

I'm leaning twards the Letus Flip 35 and would like to hear from anyone that can give me a user perspective.

One concern is that some say the Letus flip is a bit grainy. Also, is there a difference between the Letus Flip and the Letus flip enhanced, or are they the same thing? I’d like to put in my order Sunday night.

Also any advice on a good mattebox for the HVX200. I'd like to buy Redrock's mattebox, but hear it won't be available for a while.

from what I've seen, the M2 just looks a whole lot better than the flip. I don't own either, but from the footage I've seen, I preferred the M2.

The New improved Letus Flip is supposed to have 1.5 stops of light loss (used to be 3+ stops), whereas the M2 apparently only loses one stop or less.

I got to see the M2 at the recent HD Bootcamp, and hold one in my hands. Very solid construction. I was impressed with the image. Flipping the image in post is no big deal for me. I'd rather lose less light.

I'm leaning towards the M2.

I have the HVX and the flip enhanced, in my oppininon the flip shows way to much grain. It would be good to stylize a shoot, but then again there are plugins that can introduce grain (and control the amount of grain).

Got my letus enhanced today. The light loss is much less than before. I can actually shoot some stuff indoors. Quyen is great at customer service. Answers emails and genuinly wants to help customers. There was a reflection of light in my letus and he found a fix for it and shipped it back to me.

I saw the M2 in action at NAB. Solid construction and looks good on set. The letus is solid too but is not as professional looking I guess. No logo, etc. But it works well and flips the image so less work in post and no expensive monitors or magnet tricks. It's a trade off. I think I'll still order the M2 but will have to wait 6-8 weeks? In the meantime, the Letus is here and now.

good luck.
