HELP!

I just received my Nikkor 28mm F/2.8 that I bought from ebay. However, I just attached it to my camera and it's all blurry! I'm using the Fotodiox adapter. I attached to my old Nikon FE film camera to makes sure it's not my camera (or the adapter) and it does the same thing! It's all blurry! What gives?! Is there like a macro button or something that I need to press?! I'm kind of pissed because I just dropped a good load of money for this as an early Christmas present for myself.

I can only focus when I'm really close to an object-- like 2 inches from it. That's why I ask about the macro thing.

Faulty? Yes? No?

Thoughts?

Most probably: wrongly assembled.

That is, if by "blurry unless up close" means it just won't focus at anything more than 2 or 3 inches away. As in "I turn the focus wheel all the way to infinity, and then stuff 2 inches away is in focus, and infinity is out of focus; if I turn the wheel to focus closer, stuff 1 inch away comes in focus; and there's no way to move the focus point further than 2 or 3 inches away from the camera."

Thanks for your response.

I emailed the seller and they said they must have reassembled it incorrectly after a "routine" cleaning for "higher" end lenses. :(

With that said, I'm sending it back today for a refund.

Good call. I have repaired, serviced and declicked my own lenses (with better results than what I got from some pros, I must say), but it doesn't make sense to go that route if the lens wasn't cheap to begin with. Most of those lenses that arrived in bad shape, I bought them at half-price.
