Help, my hpx 170, cant put at center of mattebox redrockmicro...hellllp.

I am very glad because I recently found this good forum, I have a such problem, I buy a micromattebox, in redrockmicro, because of the price, and the big quality looks in the internet page,, I received it last week, but when I put the camcorder between the mattebox, the lens doesnt center right , goes a little to one side, and cant put good the rings, and either cant use the focus, because it slips inside to see well.

Someone of you, maybe buy this too, and can help me, maybe I do it wrong, I hope so, because I spend like a 1100 dollars.

I ,ll be waiting for some help.

Thank you very much

Pete.

Yes. You did not do anything wrong. The plate/tripod mounting holes on the bottom of the camera are NOT centered to the lens. Most (if not all) Mattebox and rail systems assume that your mounting screws and holes are centered to the camera. But not on the HPX170 - it's way off.

Solution. You got to find one. Chroziel has a replacement top plate for their rails system that aligns everything up. OR you can take apart your base plate and rails system, go to the hardware store, have them re-tap a new washer or two and figure out how to shift everything over. What have you got to lose?

thank you Jonnyh
I move the screws to the left a little, and now are perfect on center, the only thing is not exactly is the height, and bother me just when put the lens in total wide because of the 3.9 angular lens have the hpx 170, but is not a big problem.

Thank you again.

i had the same problem when connecting my brevis 35mm adapter to my 170. luckily my zacuto baseplate has adjustability to compensate

Very glad this came up, Im getting close to getting a Redrock matte box- I know now thanks to you that a different base place will be needed

pallllaaaaa:

were you using a Redrock baseplate for your setup? Our microSupport baseplate also includes a left-right adjustment as well. Like other matteboxes, the mciroMatteBox is designed with the assumption the lens is centered: the baseplate then takes care of any off-center issues the camera may have.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Brian
