Help me please! CAN'T CAPTURE PROPERLY

Hi. I've just got my firewire card and a friend's version of Premiere 6.0 (to try out). I plugged in my 100Ae and captured. The software said that x number of frames (4000 +) were captured, yet when I played it back it was a few minutes of ONE FRAME! I thought perhaps 6.o didn't recognise 25p so I did it in 'normal' mode and same thing happened again. What's going on! Thanks...

I have Premiere 6.5 with Pinnacle DV500 and have no problem to capture from my DVX100AE. But i use a Panasonic NV-GS50 as a deck.

oops. Who's the idiot! I have finally figured it out and of course it's painfully simple. You have a press play on one bar and record on the other (I would have thought that if you pressed record it would have started palying, but there you go!)

However Does anyone know why the quality looks so bad once played back (having been edited)?? What determines quality of picture - and could there be wrong settings somewhere?

Thanks

Re: Help me please! CAN'T CAPTURE PROPERLY

Once you edit and add transitions and effects you have to render your project (or part of it - known as "work area") in order to see how the final video will look like. However, never use your Premiere preview to determine the quality of final video. Always use your external monitor function for this. Now, I am not sure if Premiere 6 has this option, but Premiere 7 has for sure (and many other).

Cheers
