Help me pick a name!

Title pretty much says it.
I'm about to start a small local videography business. Ill be mainly doing concerts and videos for local bands looking for another way to get their name out.
Starting with just uploading my videos to YouTube, and posting on the bands webpage, ill hope to get my name out in the public as well.
The only problem i have now is, thinking of a semi-professional name that i can be remembered by. I have had a few ideas like having 'media, productions or video' at the end of different words but i don't just want to use "my name, productions" etc. I would prefer words relating to music or video as that will be my target. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi,

I don't often post here, but I thought I would try to help as this is a subject near and dear to my heart.

I am not particularly good at coming up with names, but I can offer some guidance you may find useful in coming up with your own:

1. Try to stay away from anything ending in "Productions" - YouTube is over-saturated with ten year olds calling themselves "omgninjazinmypantz229549 Productions" and it just looks sort of unprofessional.

2, Come up with something simple and memorable but not so obscure that you have people scratching their heads. Know your target audience... and try not to offend them. Calling yourself "Bedpan Films" - for example - if you are making films for, or about, senior citizens is in bad taste, and while using "Downbeat Media" might be pulloffable to an audience of jazz fans, you will get quizzical looks if you are marketing to metalheads.

3. Try looking into a thesaurus online, and brainstorm names to do with terminology relating to the subject of your choice. Some words to try: music, sound, audio, film, video, etc.

Let me know how things go, and the best of luck to you!

Thanks for your advice Renci, its very helpful. You are exactly right about the different genres, i have multiple friends in hardcore bands and others in blues/jazz bands. I would hate to limit myself to only one genre of music.

I think "media" is far more practical a term than "productions" in the world today. It covers all your bases: films, music videos, and web content.

I agree, if i use media it gives me space to move into other areas such as the ones you listed. I really like "Encore Media" but it seems to be taken by a wedding photography business, i tried 'Encore productions' 'Encore Films' 'Encore video' and all were taken. Anyone have any words like Encore relating to music ?
