Just got dvx and shot this little video

nice for a first vid from a dvx :P

what settings are you using? Have you learned to play around with the scene files (f1-f6)?

well they're all changed now. on that vid i only put the master ped to -7. the factory settings for my scene files are changed now...all except one is on progressive, each with a different look. Still messing around with them:). thanks for watching.

Been waitn for this mate. Well done!!, bet your havin a hoot of a time with your new DVX. The footage is good, nice and clean, a real nice 1st effort buddy. Look forward to more.

bump for another vid http://vimeo.com/2627145 This is fun. i shot a 2minute film with it put it up but then took it down...considering putting it back up...anyhoo enjoy.

Gonna shoot some other stuff with stories now instead of these random shots ...but we're still getting aquainted:)

your second vid looks awesome. really nice colors. Did you edit any of the colors in post or are those raw colors from the cam? Also, get out of 4:3 :P

16:9 for the win :)

Looks great! I especially like the second one, the shot of the spider web was beautiful. Can't wait to finally receive my DVX next week!

thanks guys :)

I actually tweaked the colours in cam a bit. I think i plugged in one of shaun's settings for a wedding...but it was a bit 2 warm and kinda dark...so i tweaked his settings a little (master ped and colour temp i believe). In post i turned up the brightness and contrast a tad just to make it pop a little more.

yeh i'm pretty hooked on the racking lol...and the high shutter stuff really made the rain look cool.

16:9 coming up :D.

have to really thank u guys here though cuz between dvxuser and tutorials on the net is where i learn most of my stuff.

ok guys i put this back up

"Disturbed"
http://vimeo.com/2637156

Lit with desk lamp, mirror for hard bounce in one shot, flashlight and a kerosene lamp. added grain in some shots. u'll see some noise in some of the shots with the kerosene lamp...but i put it in ...cuz u'll see some that are perfectly noiseless(if there is such a word)

Funny thing 2...i used a higher shutter ...like ahm.. 120 and 250 with the flashligh on my face shots to make it look more ahm wats the word...crazy(cant find the word) and it still exposed decently. i mean i'm not used to the dvx or any prosumer cam for that matter but i think thats good.

16:9 this time...iz it suppose to be this small? i duno

i white balanced on a very light blue wall to warm it up a bit. i was also wondering how it was so noiseless cuz b4 i got the cam i read on the forum about all the noise and stuff.

I believe the settigns were

detail level -1
detail coring +4
chroma level +3
color temp -4
Master ped -13
iris level -2
gamma cinelike V
knee auto
matrix cinelike
V detail freq thin

must be the master ped that made it so black

i think thats it and i also think thats one of Shaun's settings

gotta LOVE the dvx. one of my favorite cameras of all time. good stuff, keep it going, dvx = good times for everybody :]

and yes when u crush the blacks like so u'll eliminate the noise. just remember you'll also lose detail the more u crush it down. i've done shot where it was all black out backgrounds with a spot coming down for the character, and i put the pedestal almost all the way down. it was just ane experiment, the blacks looked so crisp it was great. but i learned a few things the hard way, the blacks were blacker then my letter boxing -_- and everytie there was a shadow on the person's face it looked like they melted into the darkness. cool if that's what ur going for, but it was all a good learning experience.

i hav a question guys...when i'm exporting and it says "bit rate settings" (PPcs3)....what is that? and what does it do interms of quality, because i can adjust it to whatever number i want but i duno what it does.

the lower the bit rate, the more compressed the video will be and the more artifacts/blur there will be in detail. For 1280x720 video, i use 8,000,000 bits/s bit rate max and 5,000,000 bits/s bit rate average. I dunno how your editor lets you set it up, but thats how i do it in sony vegas.
