Here are some grabs from a scene from a short I did a little while ago. The short was originally done very quickly for a college creative submission (and it got me in :) ) but while I have been waiting for the soundtrack to be finished I've played with the CC in a few places. This scene I felt was pretty poorly CC'd before so I went ahead and tried a new look on it. I still think it might need something so I figured you all could help me out. Let me know what you think of the look on these grabs. I tried to include alot of shots some of which I'm not too fond of so that you can get the best idea of the look. I'd be very intersted to hear what you think they need.

This is the original look that I had....very magic bulletty looking :/

I like the original look more than the cc'd pics. Do you really need to change the colors ? I mean, the original look matches the scenery very good for me, so why changing it ?

In the cc'd pictures I definitely see that there is blue added into it.
The original look is so warm and you wanna change it into a cold look, that's like trying to transfer the taste of milk into the taste of orange juice

Thanks for the input. The original look I should have been more specific when I said that it was my first CC of the image in which I added a warmer, magic bullety look to the image. I'm at least glad that you were honest though and I'll take your oppinion into account.

What does everyone else think? What should I do to the look to make it better? or should I just scrap it and go with the original?

i like the CC except for the blue. i think if you added another color corrector at the end of your chain to account for the blue highlights it would look pretty cool. like on the 3-wheel color corrector, choose the minus sign color grabber from the "high's" wheel and then select something in the frame that should be white.

hey man. the lighting looks funky because it's all lit from the level of the floor. did you not have any light stands or anything? i never saw your originals, but these do look somewhat artificial.

Unless there is a reason you need to go with the colder cc'd version... I would go with the original look... Or at least tone down the blues in your new grabs. Another thing, is the older guys face looks really bright on his CU's... Is there another desk light on lighting up the other side of his face...

I do like your shots by the way.

Thanks for all the input so far.

Justin- Pretty much all of my lights were lower for this scene mostly because of the time factor. I never really thought about this being a problem, but now I see that it is. I will definately remember this for future shoots.

Smithouse- There was another worklight on the older mans face which is why it is quite bright.

I'm still trying to figure out what I should do with the CC for this scene so any more input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think the magenta levels are a little hot in both the orig. and the CC's. Tone them down a bit, which in turn will give you a cooler look. I think you said earlier that you wanted a warmer look, which would be hard with CC considering the source. I good tip I picked up for acheiving a look is to use a solid in a compositing program like After Effects. By using a solid and blending modes with levels you can dramatically change the look without making it look odd. I'll have to find the tutorial and post it if you, or anyone else, is interested.
