Help me ''crash'' a laptop

For the last 3 years Im working on a desktop with CS3 and a matrox RTX2 card and Im happy with the way the system handles DV and HDV projects.
Recently Im shooting more and more with DSLRs and Im being requested for same day edits on weddings plus I will be working occasionally away from home and that is the reason why Im looking for a laptop which can handle canon files without transcoding.
So, I ve found a laptop in a local store but there is no any return policy and if I buy it and its not good Im stuck. So I asked them if I can test the one that they have there to see how it handles the files within PP CS5 (Im planning to load the trial version on it) and they said its ok with them.
So, now I need your help to crash it... Ok just kidding... but what do I need to do to push it to its limits? How can I test MPE? Im not so familiar with CS5 so I would appreciate any advise...
Ok, here are the specs:

Core i7 2720QM
GeForce GTX 460M Cuda 1536 MB
8 GB DDR3 1333
500GB HDD 5400rpm ( I know that sucks so I ll replace it with an OCZ SSD 120GB sata II for OS and PREMIERE) unfortunately there is no option for 2nd internal drive so I ll be using something like that
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-MyBook-Firewire-External/dp/B0016M2824 for scratch disks through e-sata port...thoughts about that?
15.6" 1920 x 1080 LCD
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit (What would be the benefit if I choose the PRO WIN 7?)
PORTS: IEEE-1394, 2xUSB 2.0, 2xUSB 3.0, 1xeSata, 1xDVI out, 1xHDMI out etc...
price: 1500 euros with the SSD and the ext. drive...I think its a fair price...dont you think?
Obviously the laptop I ll test, will not have the SSD or the ext. drive so Im thinking if this one pass the test, I should be ok with mine...

Forgive me for the big post...Im looking forward for your advise...and of course I ll let you know about the results...
Thank you

Create some 1080p clips (non compressed), bring them into After Effects, create a new comp that's like 4k resolution or so, and put multiple copies of your clips in z space ... somewhere around 50-70 full HD clips. Create a camera that flies around to all of them, add motion blur to all clips (put the lens blur filter on half of them), turn on the global motion blur, and render out this comp (about 5 minutes in length) at full resolution. That should be a good starting point.

Thank you for your answer Hawk!
That sounds like a realy hard test even for more powerful systems, If only I knew how to do it...ha...ha...Im not into AE at all...so I ll stick to premiere tests...anyway I ll be working only with premiere in reality so there is where I should focus...
Normally I should be ok if I can have 3-5 layers with CC and titles in my timeline working in realtime...but of course I ll push the laptop until I see the red bars coming...hopefully not very soon...
What do you think about my choise for hard disks? Do you think I ll be ok with the SSD for OS/PROGRAMS and the e-sata external for video/audio? I saw some bad reviews about the external disk I linked to my previous post so Im looking for alternatives....would a usb 3 disk do the job?
Thanks again...

Ok...I went in the shop today, they had all CS5.5 suite loaded on the laptop for me...but I couldnt enable MPE to work in GPU acceleration mode...so I started working with MPE software only...and that was totally disappointing! One layer with one CC effect and it was giving the red bar!!! Is that normal? Would it be MUCH different with MPE enabled and an SSD disk? Does anyone edit those canon files wihout transcoding in a laptop?

Thank you for the suggestion Jim...
I know it might sound strange, but there is no return policy in ANY of those stores in Greece!
In fact I even have to feel grateful that they let me test the system...can you imagine?

So buy online.

(Or, somewhat more radical, move to a country that requires sane and fair business practices from it's enterprise.)
