put it in a dry place and let it dry out for a few days and it should come back, i have heard it happen before in humid places and it has always come back.

Did it give any error code?

Did you try a different tape (preferably from a different batch)? I ask because some years back on a large Sony, we had all the important clients flown in and the day of the shoot I popped in the tape and the camera wouldn't function. It gave error codes and messages that sounded really serious. We popped in a different tape (same batch) and got the same thing. Finally in desperation, I pulled out an old tape that had been previously recorded on, and the camera was fine. Apparently, that box of tapes had been wound too tight, or had some bias issue? Since then I always bring tapes from bateches bought at different times.

Thanks both of u.
tried "drying it out" w/ tape ddoor open over weekend. no luck yet. also cant replace tape cuz tape door opens but cant eject tape cuz of zero power. no error mssges for same reason.
thanks both of u again. I'll keep u posted.

well bad news is it shouldnt take this long. sounds like it could be short fuse problem, but who knows. make sure when your drying it out that the battery is removed.
