Help!! Ingestion Problems

I'm using FCP 6.0.
AF100, Sandisk 64G 95mb/s

I'm switching back to Panasonic gold after this incident.
My best shots are recorded and they play back in camera, but I get
a red exclamation mark next to some clips when I do a log and transfer.
VLC can't read the files - the thumbnails in FCP are black, simply won't play back.
I have to deliver this product by 8pm tonight.
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I use Panasonic Gold, and still sometimes get those warnings and failures to transcode through FCP7. Part of that is a failure of FCP, so my usual workflow is ClipWrapping the files.

However, the failure to read via VLC is worrying. A program like DataRescue 3 has saved me in the past from corrupted media.

Cheers mate. I'm currently trying the clip restore program from panasonic. I also updated to FCP7, as I'm looking to get that panasonic program that enables direct editing of AVCHD files.

Nothing seems to work - clipwrap, wondershare, panasonic clip repair. I'm out of options. Can anyone suggest something?

A lot of times I find that ingestion problems are a chemistry issue in the stomach and just easting something like bread to soak up excess acidity can really help calm things down. Just make sure it's something fairly solid so it doesn't come up right back up.

Try using the camera to copy the clips you need to another card that you know is good and see if that works.

Also, if you have not already done so, make sure the card you are having problems with is locked.

Are you ingesting (log and transfer) directly from the card or have you copied the card to a local drive?.

Try whichever way you have not done already ( and do lock your card as suggested)

FWIW - I always copy the card to a local drive because I can not wait to get the data off the SD card safely. (Then I can sleep better)

I'm currently using the camera to copy and it's been stuck on 95% for over three minutes and counting.
It zipped up to 95% in seconds and now it's stuck. I may be screwed. Man, and I have such beautiful footage on there. smh.

I cancelled copying and found that 10 of 13 clips have been saved!!!! THANK YOU! Lost 3 clips, might try again, but I'm sooo happy at this much recovery!

Yep, I'm with Shooter . . . getting the data off the card to a couple hard drives immediately upon returning to station.
I never copy direct from camera . . . takes too long, I always pull the card, lock it, and stick it in a card reader to copy to computer (PC, but I don't think that exercise makes a difference . . . copying data).

Chiming in a little late here, but yes, it's typical of the copy function to race to 95% and appear to stall. You need to wait a fairly significant amount of time for the data to copy. It's deceiving...but it is copying data.
Just give it fair amount of time. Good luck!

Yep, I agree with Shooter as well. That's my normal practice but on this one I don't know why I didn't adhere to that M.O. Lesson learned! But cheers and cheers and I recopied and waited for the 95% and it copied another, so I have 11 files! Cheers!

Glad it worked out for you.

I dont use a Mac or know much about them ...but I do know they seem to write files back to the devices attached to them in some instances. Maybe this can bite you.

Ah, yes... another SOP I have on my mac (began with P2) is to ALWAYS write-protect the card before mounting it on the Mac in any way whatsoever, so it can't write any of those reference files to the card. It doesn't necessarily always corrupt your data, but it can.

As a last resort, you can try to repair the files with a red exclamation mark.
My advice: make a copy of the files to your hard disk, then use a video repair tool.

You can start trying to preview with this web diagnostics tool:
