I use Final Cut Pro 7 and I import AVCHD using ProRes LT. However, I have been having problems exporting after my edit is done. Which is the best way to export for online streaming? I also have problems keeping the original quality of my clip during export. Please help a novice out and tell me how you guys achieve exporting your beautiful footage. Thanks!

Using ProRes LT is ok however I use regular ProRes. No scientific proof its better but I sleep good at night.
Exporting is a trial and error. I usually export HD too H.264 at 640 x 360 H.264 around 1000 kbits/sec. You can go lower. Its really about how the footage hold up during compression. This is a good start.

This is also a good way to get higher quality videos. Using the proper dimensions makes the video cleaner.

Good luck and happy compressing!

Wow, thanks for the link and your input! It is a trial and error, hopefully I'll find what works for me soon.

If you're just starting out you can't go far wrong by just using the Compressor presets.

I personally export a self-contained QuickTime which becomes the master file. I then bring that into Compressor and use one of the iOS device presets. These mp4's are good for uploading to the net and can also be put on an iPad or iPhone.
