Hello all,
i currently have a problem with my pal hvx200e,
from looking on the internet a internal cable may be loose or rusted ...

symptoms are:

if p2 card is present it starts recording when powering on,
can't turn off,
can't get into menus but zoom is ok and shutter too..

is there any way to get a service manual for this machine?
i prefer to try to do it myself first , because of costs and i need a quick fix.

any help apreciated
thanks

thats a fairly common problem.

id bet if you tried to fix it yourself it may void your warranty.

i know it could void my warranty.
by chance it's out of warranty now ....

did someone here managed fixing one unit already ?
any hints?
thanks
py

today i opened the camera, unassembled a lot of cables and parts , tried to clean all contacts with a little glass fiber brush, then reassembled .
it didn't change anything .i'm still stuck with this problem.
it isn't worse but not better .

Hmmm Sorry nobody here can help you. Your probably better off contacting Panasonic and asking for suggestions if not shipping it in for repairs. Sure your off warranty but it might not be a hugely expensive fix... we can hope anyway.

the camera is now at the shop for a (free ) quote.
i will see if this shop is as good as it seems.
thanks for the service manual directions.

my camera came back repaired, for a short moment.

they unconnected and reconnected the topop pcb.
but 2 weeks later it's out of order again.
the shop suggests a bad top op and a 800$ repair.
zut is the french word to stay polite.

i contacted panasonic 2 days ago and am waiting for them to call me back (they said tomorrow on the phone.

I'll see..

yesterday i dismantled my hvx200 and managed to get it back to work.
for how long??
i can do it myself now .
in fact i found some hairs on the connectors
big thanks to the repair shop(250euros)
perhaps next stop is plugging some reset button on the unit .
so i don't loose time with this "professional" unit.
everyone with this problem can handle it with a good screwdriver and some time.
hopefully.
i am a bit bored tonight .

i finally managed to get my camera back to work again.
i didnt buy the 800 euros pcb,but it took three hours.
i suspect a bad flat internal cable was the problem.
i saw a very little hair in a connector ,removed it.
now its working for more than a month.
:-)
do it yourself rules.if you are oout of warranty especially
