Help: How loud is the operation noise of your HVX200?

I just got a PAL HVX200E and experiencing beside the zoom noise problem, another strange, permanent and way too loud operation noise too,

I think, it will make any camera mountable audio solution obsolete.

I dont know if its just my unit, so i called Panasonic here in Germany. They are not aware of anything like that, and turned my to my seller, quite disappointing. The dealer is offering to replace it with another unit, But i am very sceptical now.

Anyone can comment on or is experiencing the same operation noise issue of the HVX200?

Thanks!

The operation noise is mine is minimal --- particularly when recording to the P2 (since there's no tape transport noise). I don't even get what people have been saying about the zoom noise. You might have a bad unit. If so, you have my deepest sympathies. I would have been crushed if I had to send mine back.

I have not used my HVX much, but tried a coupld things.
I turned the on camera mic gain all the way up where ambient noise was way over half the way up the meter. When I hit the zoom, I "might" have seen a single dot flash on the meter, but even that wasn't for sure.
My guess is it won't be a probem for normal levels.
I won't get my cards till tomorrow, but on my demo unit I didn't notice any noise problems.

But, I've heard this a couple times here and you can bet I'll be looking out for a noise problem.
Thanks for the heads up and I wish you luck!

On mine the zoom motor is not silent, but it's certainly reasonable. And there's no other operational noises; when not zooming or focusing, the HVX is dead silent.

When not zooming my HVX is virtually silent. I'll know more about my unusual zoom noise tomorrow when I take my HVX over to Panasonic in Burbank to have it compared to another one. I'll post some more info when I get their feedback.

PAL HVX ~ silent until you zoom and even that's not something that hasn't screwed anything up for me when using the on-board mic.

In all respects other than fast zooms, the operational noise on my PAL HVX is negligible.

The zoom noise is a bit of a concern because it gets picked up by the mics. I did manage to compare to another HVX camera yesterday, which exhibited similar levels of noise, so maybe it's just the way it is...

Since what constitutes 'reasonable' will, to a degree, depend on how you use the camera, I'm going to dive in and do a couple of shoots over the next 2 days. If it's still a concern after that, I'll head back to my dealer to have them evaluate it.
