HELP having MAC/PC issues.

I shot my short film but had to use a friends mac and freecom hardrive to dump footage. She said even though the HD is formatted for mac you can transfer files from it to a pc. Now I hook up the HD to my pc and nothing shows up in "my computer". when you first plug it in it installs the HD driver software and says the device is ready to be used. But it doesn't appear as an extra drive in "my computer? nothing is there. I can also click the icon to "safely remove" the drive and it will say "usb mass storage device"...but there is no drive letter or name of the drive.

Anyone know whats going on? I need to get my footage off.

I dont remember the name but should be able to find a utility for the PC that will allow you convert the files to something the PC can deal with.

the files will NOT just automatically show up as the PC cannot read the Mac format, unless you use a utility to convert it.

How big is your project? maybe you can transfer with a big thumb drive.

i think we dumped 5 times 16 gb each card. Except the last (5th)card which wasnt that much footage. I'll search for that utility. thanks

do you have a pc formatted drive also? do you have access to your friend's mac? Connect both drives and copy the files to the PC drive.

3 votes for MacDrive!

Also (of no help for this problem, but could help in the future), if you dump your cards to a drive formatted FAT32, you can use it on PC or Mac.
