Help going from OMF to Final Cut?

Hi -- I just inherited an editing project where the previous editor captured the footage on an Avid and then split, leaving me with about 20Gb worth of OMF files.

Is there anyone out there with either Avid or Automatic Duck who could read them and export them to QuickTime DV-NTSC for me? I'm willing to pay a reasonable price, so long as it's not more than buying the software itself would cost. :-)

Do you just need the timelines or ALL of the media, including media not on the timeline? Is the project on there too?

I have Avid and Auto Duck, so let me know.

I would just recapture. 20 gigs can not be all that much footage. Then you will have links to the tapes so you can take media offline if you want and re digitize.

We have done this before and even with Automatic Duck it can be difficult to keep track of assets.

Take an afternoon and recapture...That is if you have the sources. It will also help you become familiar with the footage.

Just my thoughts

Matt, I dropped you a line, but haven't heard back -- far as I know, the only project file I have is one msmMMOB.mdb file, plus the raw OMF and AIF files.

Jason -- I'd love to recapture, but there are availability issues... the sources were old NTSC stuff, a mixture of S-VHS and Hi-8, and I'm now in the land of PAL (Australia). I've got the tapes, but decks are few and far between!

Cheers,

.mdb is a database file.

I'd like to help, but unfortunately I'm completely swamped. I know Avid had a free program at one point. It was barely worth it's filesize, but it should be able to put out full quality quicktimes without the avid codec.
