Help! FS-100 FireStore hard drive drop out

I'm currently working on a show using panavision hd cameras and we are shooting additional footage with the HVX and the Firestore fs-100.

When post production received the footage they complained about some drop-outs.
Sure enough when we checked the footage on the Firestore we saw the small digital drop-outs in a few places. We were shooting 1080i, 24p with the F1 setting.

My questions are, has any one else had this problem? Is this normal? ( If it is we can't use this camera, with this setup professionally.) Is the hard drive at fault? Are the firewire cables suspect? I guess the list is endless.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

That was a problem with the very first revision of the firestore firmware. They've updated the firmware to prevent that from happening again. Make sure you're updated with the latest version.

I am having the same problem even with the latest version of firmware. I've been in contact with tech support at firestore but they say they haven't heard of this problem. If others are having this problem please tell their tech support so they'll fix it. So far I have had my FS-100 drop out at two different times, both were the absolute worse times for it to happen, and of corse I didn't find out until I was trying to log my footage.

Did you do a hardware reset after upgrading the firmware?

FYI... the original question here was posted by my operator. We have since done as Barry suggested, and so far so good... no digital hits. I must admit, I have been a bit nervous as we are using the camera to do all the interior car travelling shots on a network show. Not a lot of room for error.
