Help - freak wave soaked my DVX!!

take it in to repairs see what they say if they tell you they cant fix it,,, i have a random idea you can try! - at the mesuem i went to a few months ago they were collecting wood planks from the ocean, these planks were full of salt and they had to get rid of the salt to preserve it. so they soak it in water? (i think, it might have had some chemical added to it like... i cant remember) then they use a Cl (HCl (salt)) monitor to monitor the water and when it gets to 7% salt they take it out and put it into the next water tank to soak out more salt........ until there is no salt left, then they dry it and the salt isnt there to crystalise and expand to ruin the wood!!!

oh yeah, if your desperate i can find out what the chemical they put in it was, from memory it significantly helped the process (but that was foor wood, might cause metal parts to rust!, then u would just have to stick a sacrificial anode in the water, but to do that you would have to find out what all the metals in the dvx are then get a metal that is more reactive).

I dropped my cellphone in a toilet and after 4 days it began to work again. I dropped it in a puddle a few months later and it began to work 2 days after that.

Hey, thanks for all the options guys! I'm definitely considering some of them...which museum was it, ST?

BTW, I also have experience with wet mobile phones. My partner's phone was dropped in a glass of water by a helpful work colleague when it was only 2 days old, and we did the oven thing too - worked like a charm. We heated up the oven to about a medium heat, then turned it off before putting in the phone - didn't want to risk forgetting about it and cooking the thing!! What's for dinner? Mmmm...baked phone...

Yeah, I don't know what I'd do if I dropped a phone in the toilet. I think I'd stand there looking at it for a while weighing up how badly I wanted the phone! I suppose you could use kitchen tongs to fish it out, and then throw away the tongs, but I don't know if I'd ever be able to put that phone to my head again, no matter how much I cleaned it! Perhaps I have a problem - remember that episode of Seinfeld where his girlfriend put something in the toilet and wouldn't tell him what it was, so he started throwing everything out? That would be me...
