Help finding a DVX100a

Dear Group...

I live in the Greenville SC area and I'm trying to find away to get ahold of a Panasonic DVX100a for my first feature film. I've been working with a Samsung and I'm ready for the upgrade. Anyway I was just thinking I might check on this group to see if anyone had one they were looking to get rid of for a good price before I went the whole "ordering it online path." Just an idea. I know you will all probably flame me but I figured the worst that could happen is everyone says no. I was just thinking as a community of filmmakers maybe someone out there would be willing to help out. Plus if anyone has an idea of where to pick one of these little technological gems at for a good price then please let me know. You guys own them and I live in Greenville and my camera stores in town have already told me (quite rudely in fact) that they don't carry this item and never will and can't special order it either so I'm just looking for help anywhere I can get it. Thanks guys...& girls.

BTW I just thought I would let you guys know that the reason why I'm going with the DVX100a is because of you guys...I was actively searching for an XL1 until you guys made your case for the Panasonic. Thanks again.

Out of curiosity, why the A and not the B?

The $1500 price difference, is my guess...

I'm looking, too -- let me know if you find an outlet other than B&H's $3-4k setup, please.

Yeah the price difference makes ALL the difference. I'm running into a couple walls around town cause some people won't even so much as carry the camera. I know it's not the newest out anymore but still they don't even carry the B either. Can't special order it either sir I'm sorry try our competition across town that told you to call us. I'll check B&H and see what comes out of it. Thanks for replying so far guys and please keep the ideas coming...every little bit helps when you are an independent filmmaker.

Hey Truth:

I just purchased a DVX100A on ebay with only 80hrs. The camera arrived in 3 days with a Kata bag and extra set of batteries and a lens UV filter, charger, remote control, manual, firewire cable...no original box though.

The camera was in excellent condition. I would give it an A+. You might want to check these guys ebay store. I know they sell a lot of used equipment and they test it and guaranteed it for 14 days. I usually try to stay away from ebay, but I had heard good thinks about these sellers.

All in all the camera came out to be $2,600.00. I've already test it the camera and it works beautifully. Again, that was my own personal experience but I like to applaude those who seem to be honest....thats it
