HELP! FCP Studio

I am using FCP Studio 2.0.1. I upgraded from the previous version. Soundtrack Pro was no longer launching so I tried to reinstall FCP Studio 2.0.1. (I had been lead to believe I could simply reinstall over the existing program). I had to cancel reinstallation partway through as the disk that was uploading would not eject no matter what I did. So now I'm concerned about starting the reinstall process again. Can I just start the reinstall again and was it correct advice that I should just do a reinstall over the existing program?

Thanks for any guidance. I've got to get back up and running asap!

Okay, so ultimately I uninstalled Final Cut Pro using the suggestion Zwick gave me of going to Digital Rebellion's site and using their uninstall dowload (Thanks!). Then I reinstalled FCP Studio Upgrade 2.0 and now I cannot open recent projects because apparently they are magically in a more recent version of FCP. Imagine my bewilderment. I checked to see what version of FCP I'm now running and it appears to be 6.0.1 and I'm not even sure if that is what Final Cut Studio Upgrade is supposed to be. Anyway, my question is twofold - how can I find out what version my files (recent projects) are in if the version of FCP I'm running can't open them and secondly, is there an upgrade for the upgrade I installed?
Thanks in advance,
LD
