HELP! DVX100A for $3099 on ebay... scam?

I need all of those experienced ebay people to help me out. There is a DVX100A on sale on ebay for $3099.99 (auction number 3813089896) with free shipping if you call ahead. I was wondering if you think this is a legit sale with a legit camera. The guy lists a whole bunch of cameras and has pretty good feedback.

HOWEVER, I checked out the company that the cameras are coming from (www.mydigitalgear.com) on resellerratings.com and they have a very bad track record.

What do you think? Let me know. Thanks.

Kyle ::)

I dont 100% agreee. I buy on ebay ALLLLLLL the time. I never really care about any kind of warranties though. Cause my stuff never breaks. And when my stuff breaks. I just go find a way to get it fixxed cheap. No big deal. I save money all the time. And I always buy stuff that is around atleast 400 or higher.. I got a Fuji FinePix s7000, Mbox, and tons of computer parts. All kinda stuff. Plus i even used my account once to buy a friend a car. As long as their feedback is really good. Then i feel they are pretty decent. and Yes I always use paypal with money back and everything.

I love me some ebay and sometimes i feel im addicted to it. Never once got jacked on ebay!

[They do say "1 year warranty" but they don't say US warranty on it.]

I called them up today and they told me it is the 1 year US factory warranty, not something through their company.

Hey John,

I just read your story on your homepage and I am very impressed. It is very inspiring! Congrads on pursuing your dreams and not settling for the norm, even with a wife and child to support now!

Perhaps. But with their reputation on resellerratings.com, do you believe them? Profeel told someone they were an authorized Panasonic dealer, and they most definitely are not (according to Panasonic)... so do you believe what they say? If they're telling the truth, it might be an okay deal. If they're indeed liars, then I don't care how low the price was, I wouldn't deal with them.

Re: HELP! DVX100A for $3099 on ebay... scam?

Do any of you know why Promax is selling their DVX100A for $3359 and EVS and B&H are a hundred dollars more? Is Promax not an authorized panasonic reseller? Has anybody bought anything from Promax? Thanks.

Re: HELP! DVX100A for $3099 on ebay... scam?

ProMax is an authorized reseller, and an excellent one at that. I bought my anamorphic adapter from them, rented equipment from them, used their dubbing service, and I've known Charles at ProMax (informally) for several years. Charles is one of the "good guys", an absolutely class act and one of the best resellers around. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

Hi Kyle, Promax is very much legit.  We buy jibs from them on a regular basis.  However, don't forget that the DVXuser discount puts you well ahead of the EVS advertised price. ;D And discounts on other accessories are abundant.  If you'd like, shoot me an email for the DVXuser price, and let me have a chance at bidding for your business: rush@evsonline.com :)

Re: HELP! DVX100A for $3099 on ebay... scam?

Hi Rush...I have a question about the 4 year Mack warranty on the EVS website. Can you purchase that warranty if you bought your camera from a dealer other than EVS?

Re: HELP! DVX100A for $3099 on ebay... scam?

Yes, within the first 30 days since your invoice was generated by the other company. ;D

Re: HELP! DVX100A for $3099 on ebay... scam?

Kyle,

A DVX100A is selling many places for that price or less. Even from "Authorized" dealers. Panasonic just recently announced a price drop on the 100A. Don't let the "fools" that espouse paying full retail sway you. Yes, you have to be careful where you buy your camera, Ebay is loaded with legitimate dealers at good prices...just do your homework. I just purchased a unit for $3095.00 (two weeks ago) on Ebay (#3812115355)and it came with a full US warranty and all accessories. I saved over $400.00 buying on ebay over B&H's inflated price!! Almost every piece of film/video gear that I own was purchased through B&H, until I opened my eyes.
